AC 1960 Aceca Bristol Coupe

1960 A.C. Aceca Bristol Coupe
Chassis No. BEX739
Engine No. 100D613

A.C. Car's Ace roadster was introduced in 1953 and fit the rugged British sports car mode with Spartan accommodations and exhilarating performance.  Production began in 1955 of the Aceca, the more comfortable coupe version.  Like the Ace, the Aceca coupe used the four-wheel independent suspension chassis and body construction of aluminum panels over an ash and steel tube framework.  Inside the Aceca's 5 window style fastback design there is room for two occupants and luggage: warm, dry and protected.  Also like the Ace, the Aceca was offered with either the Weller designed A.C. Six or from 1957 on, the more powerful Bristol engine.  From 1957 to 1960 only about 170 Aceca Bristols were built of which only 45 were imported into the United States.

This Aceca was sold new to Worldwide Imports of Los Angeles. ¬†Sometime after that, it was owned by a gentleman in Minnesota until 1987. ¬†In the late 80's ‚Äď early 90's an extensive restoration was completed for its owner, Robert Cole. ¬† The car was stripped to bare aluminum and painted to the highest degree by Lloyd Buck (who now runs the Arturo Keller collection) at a cost approaching $25,000. ¬†No prior body damage was discovered. ¬†New red leather and carpets were fitted. ¬†The chrome and wood redone. ¬†An exhaustive rebuild of the engine was undertaken by the renowned Phil Reilly and Ivan Zaremba. ¬†This car has the powerful Bristol engine and is fitted with a trio of dual-choke Weber carburetors. ¬†This is a great rally car.
